~ Pharmac South, a key pharma B2B event, brings together the pharmaceutical / nutraceutical business fraternity
from all over India. The eighth edition of this event is slated to take place at Chennai Trade Center,
Nandambakkam, Chennai, on July 14th and 15th, 2023 ~
Chennai, 14 th July 2023: ‘Pharmac South 2023’ – The South India’s Biggest Pharmaceutical Expo, Pharmac South
8 th Edition 2023 was kicked off at the Chennai Trade Centre on July 14th, in the presence of industry leaders,
marketing companies and regulatory officers.
The inaugural session took place on 14th July. Shri. J. Jayaseelan, Chairman; IDMA (Tamil Nadu, Puducherry &
Kerala) delivered the welcome address. Shri. S. V. Veerramani, Past National President, IDMA & Chairman,
Pharmexcil delivered his keynote address on “Overview of Pharma Industry & export opportunities”.
Guest of Honor, Shri. Dr. Arun Roy, IAS, Secretary to Government, MSME Department, Govt. of Tamil Nadu
inaugurated Pharmac South 2023.
This was followed by the address of other prominent delegates, including:

Further motivational sessions for visitors on “Role of Leadership for Excellence” & “Profitable Growth” were delivered

Guru.
“Pharmaceutical Quality’ – ‘What are we missing?” was the topic by Dr. Rajiv Singh Raghuvanshi, Drugs Controller
General of India, CDSCO, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Directorate General of Health Services,
Government of India.
A special address by Dr. K.M. Srinivasan, DD CDSCO, South Zone, Chennai.
Manufacturers & Marketers of Food supplements got the latest update on regulations and guidance for compliance
with FSSAI by top officials- Dr. K.A. Arul Anand, Joint Director (Technical), Designated Officer (Central Licensing) –
Tamil Nadu & Andhra Pradesh FSSAI & Dr. Vivek, Assistant Director, Karnataka, Telangana, Kerala, Puducherry,
Lakshadweep, FSSAI.
In all, around 5000 business delegates and government authorities are expected to participate in this event over the
two days.
Pharmac South 2023 is organized by the Indian Drug Manufacturers’ Association (IDMA) under the guidance and
leadership of Shri. S. V. Veerramani, Past National President, IDMA, Shri. J. Jayaseelan, Chairman, IDMA (Tamil
Nadu, Puducherry & Kerala), Shri. T. Sathish, Vice Chairman, Shri. S. Sivanandhan, Hon. Secretary, Shri. R.
Sabapathy, Treasurer, and Shri. K. Makesh, Joint Secretary.
Pharma bodies like the Pharmacy Council of India, The Indian Pharmaceutical Association, Pharmexcil, The
Pharmaceuticals Manufacturers Association of Tamilnadu, Tamilnadu Pharmaceutical Sciences Welfare Trust &
Indian Pharmacy Graduates’ Association are also closely associated with this event.
The pharmaceutical industry in India is expected to reach $65 Bn by 2024 and to $130 Bn by 2030.
The pharmaceutical industry in India is currently valued at $50 Bn.
India is a major exporter of pharmaceuticals to over 200+ countries. India supplies over 50% of Africa’s requirement
for generics, ~40% of generic demand in the US, and ~25% of all medicine in the UK.
India also accounts for ~60% of global vaccine demand. 70% of WHO’s vaccines (as per the essential immunization
schedule) are sourced from India.

Minister of Tamilnadu Thiru M.K.Stalin on 5/05/23 inaugurated Tindivanam Pharma Park.

providing a conducive environment for companies to set up their operations and thrive. The park aims to foster
collaboration, innovation, and growth within the pharmaceutical sector.
During Covid, IDMA TNPKSB worked relentlessly to distribute medication on all the required levels. IDMA Tamil
Nadu Puducherry Kerala state board along with other pharma associations Contributed to Tamil Nadu Chief
Minister’s Public Relief Fund. Shri S V Veerramani along with Chairman Shri J Jayaseelan handed over the cheque
of Rs.50 lakh
