Rotary Club of Madras presents the Educator Extraordinaire Award to Mrs. Omana Thomas, Principal of Sishya School, Chennai on Teacher’s Day

Chennai, September 5th 2023: Annually, the Rotary Club of Madras presents the Educator Extraordinaire Award to a distinguished individual who has made significant contributions to the field of education.

On the occasion of Teacher’s Day, The Rotary Club of Madras felicitates Mrs. Omana Thomas on all her achievements, and appreciates her innovations and initiatives with the Educator Extraordinaire Award in the presence of Rtn.Ravi Sundaresan, President, Rotary Club of Madras.

She is an inspiration to many, a path-breaker in her work, one who has strived for excellence and keeps abreast of the times. Mrs. Omana Thomas M.Ed., is a well-known educationist, famed for helming Sishya as its Principal for over twenty years. She has built upon the founding principles of Sishya, a school where childhood is treasured and nurtured.

Speaking at the event, Mrs. Omana Thomas, the Principal of Sishya School, said “I am very grateful and honoured to receive the Educator Extraordinaire Award from the Rotary Club of Madras for this annual year. Teachers’ Day is dedicated to all teachers and the role they play in shaping their students’ lives. Giving us a purpose for setting us up as successful citizens of the world, teachers inspire in us a drive to do well and succeed in life and to recognise this hard work of our mentors and gurus. Teachers’ Day is celebrated with great pomp and show.”

Rotarian Ravi Sundaresan, President, Rotary Club of Madras, added “On this occasion it was a nice experience to have come together to celebrate not only the teacher’s accomplishments but also the positive impact they have on our lives. The teacher’s hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed, and the Rotary Club of Madras believe this is a wonderful opportunity to relax, socialize, and strengthen our bonds with the teaching community.”

The Rotary Club of Madras also honoured the Principals of 28 Interact Schools and Teachers of their centres on Teacher’s Day, 5th September who have made significant contributions to the field of education.

This was a day to honour and show gratitude to all educators and teachers. There was support in large numbers to applaud these educators from Rotarians, spouses and guests.
