The second Meeting of Women 20 Began in Jaipur

April 13, Chennai -The two-day second Women’s 20 (W20) international meeting scheduled
for 13 – 14 April 2023 began today in Rajasthan’s capital Jaipur. The theme of the W20 Meet
is “Unleash the Untapped Potential of Women-Led Development: Building an Inclusive and
Sustainable Future”. The agenda of the two-day meeting focuses on five key priorities:
women entrepreneurship, grassroots women leadership, bridging the gender digital divide,
education and skill development, and climate change. The meeting saw deliberations on the
key issues of promoting gender equality and economic empowerment of women at the global
level. The meeting witnessed participation from about 120 women delegates from 18
countries. The W-20 is an official partnership group of the G-20.

On the first day, Women-20 Innovation, Mission Digital Women, Financial and Digital
Literacy, and Skilling Program initiatives were launched. The inaugural session was
addressed by Dr. Shamika Ravi, Member of, the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime
Minister, Indeevar Pandey, Secretary, of the Ministry of Women and Child Development,
Usha Sharma, Chief Secretary, and G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant. While addressing the
meeting, India’s Sherpa at G-20, Amitabh Kant said that ‘women-led development is a
priority for India, as we have seen women as key drivers of prosperity and inclusive growth.
He added that women must set the agenda for development and they must act as agents of
growth’.

On the sidelines of the meeting, a visit for the foreign delegates of W20 to Amber Fort in
Jaipur is being organised. Amer Fort is made of pink and yellow sandstone and is part of an
elaborate complex that attracts visitors. The first meeting of Women 20 (W20) under G20
was held on 27 -28 February 2023 at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad),
Maharashtra.
